Howrat: Two among the five people accused of raping the BJP supporting wife in Bitan Village at AMTA Howrah on Saturday was arrested on Sunday night.
The 34-year-old woman, which is blind, is being treated at Uluberia Subdivisional Hospital.
Gang leaders – Qutubuddin Mullick and Debashis Rana – Allegedly owed loyalty to the powerful Trinamool Congress.
Minister of State and Howrah Trinamool Regency President Arup Ray did not deny or confirm the accusation of the rape of the gang or the loyalty of the defendant, but said the administration was looking for events.
“Incidents like that, if true, will be handled strongly.
The law will take its own path and guilty will not be spared.
That said, BJP has a habit of producing unfounded accusations.
We hope this to act strongly in the countries regulated by it , “Ray said.
FIR said the attack occurred when a woman – who lost her ability to speak three months ago after the cerebral stroke – was at home with her son and her husband was in Kolkata.
Mullick, allegedly as President of Trinamool, and “TMC Workers” Rana, along with the other three, wiped when he answered a knock in the middle of the night.
The boy woke up on Sunday morning to find him tied near his father’s bicycle.
He called his father who in turn told the police.
“The leadership of Trinamool Qutubuddin Mullick, his brother Joynal and Debashis Rana interpreted an attack on my wife when I was far from home,” said the complainant, adding that his family had become targeted because of the wholesale of Bilik Bandan during the polls.
“This is a political vendetta.
We are not safe.” Police confirmed two arrests and said the defendant had been sent in their detention for six days.
The police have been looking for medical reports from the woman and will “record a statement of people who meet the case”.
