Bareilly: MP BJP Varun Gandhi who has vocalized the problem of farmers on social media has stepped further by introducing personal bills for minimum plant support prices in parliament.
The bill is named “Farmers’ rights to guaranteed a minimum support the realization price of Agri-Produce Bill, 2021”.
Under the new bill, he has suggested a separate department creation for the implementation of the MSP and the implementation of the Swaminathan Committee report.
This bill will expand throughout India and will guarantee a 50 percent return on comprehensive production costs for 22 agricultural commodities other than the bonus announced.
This will apply to each agricultural commodity for that season.
Mention details about the bill, Varun said, “As recommended by the Swaminathan-2006 committee, MSP must be determined by a 50 percent profit margin of comprehensive production costs which includes the actual payment costs in the input, the value of unpaid family workers, and preceded Rentals on agricultural land and permanent agricultural assets.
“Varun further said,” Departments separate under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare will be created for the implementation of the law.
The department must be led by a separate decision-making body consisting of farmer representatives, public officials, and experts in agricultural policy.
In cases where MSP prices are not realized, the government must pay the difference between the selling price and MSP within a week of the material reported.
The bill will encourage plant diversification and recommend the most suitable plants to be cultivated for each sub-district, so that Reducing environmental costs for agriculture (especially with regard to groundwater) and promotes the appropriate planting patterns for long-term ecological sustainability.
“The price announcement will be made two months before the start of the harvest season to help farmers plan their sowing in advance,” he added.
The bill demands to establish a complete procurement center (one for every 5 villages) and the creation of supply chain infrastructure (warehouse, cold storage, etc.), help farmers to store and sell their products during the post-harvest season.
Varun Gandhi has contributed all his luggage obtained as a member of parliament since 2009 to the families of suicide farmers.
He openly came out to support the mahapachayat farmers by calling their own meat and blood and recommending to start back with them respectfully, and to reach their shared foundation.
