MANGALURU: BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel said here on Sunday the party had never held discussion on change in leadership in Karnataka.
“BS Yediyurappa is the unanimous choice and a strong leader who has managed the Covid-19 crisis very effectively.
Party will discuss with all leaders, who have aired views against leadership and listen to them.
There is no question of leadership change in the party, Kateel said, adding that Yediyurappa will continue to be the chief minister of the state.
Yediyurappa had said that he will resign from his post the day central leadership of the BJP asks him to do so.
On this, Kateel said, “Yediyurappa has said that he will abide by the directions of party high command and it is the party’s ideology too.
He has never been power hungry.
Yediyurappa has said that he will resign if the party asks him.
However, the BJP has never discussed it (Yediyurappa’s resignation).
There is no difference of opinion regarding Yediyurappa’s leadership in the party.
Yediyurappa is our unanimous leader.
Our national leaders also have made it clear that there is no change of leadership in the state.
Hence, all these debates are irrelevant,” Kateel said.
On discord within the party, Kateel said all party leaders are bound to abide by the directions of the national leaders.
“We have no rebels in the party now.
We have spoken to all leaders.
Grievances are common when a party runs the government.
We will speak to all leaders who have raised concerns soon,” he added.
