Nagpur: The City Unit of Bharatiya Janata (BJP) gave a demonstration on Friday at Variety Square on the failure of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government to reduce value added tax (VAT) at fuel prices.
Led by Pravin City President Datke and Secretary General Chandrashekhar Bawankule, BJP activists burned government effigions.
The leaders, including MLC Girish Vyas, Mlas Kumbhare, Mohan Mate and Sameer Meghe, the President of the Arvind Gajbhiye and Vice President Sanjay Bhende, said the central government has reduced prices by RS10 for Diesel and RS5 for gasoline considering the festival season for citizens.
“The central government’s journey was followed by many BJP LED countries.
However, the non-sensitive MVA government led by the Chairman of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray has failed to give a break to residents in Maharashtra, who has suffered due to Covid-19 pandemic.
We demand that the MVA government immediately reduce VAT to give a break to citizens, “they said.
BJP activists say they will intensify agitation throughout the state if the Thackeray government fails to act.
During their previous protest, Bawankule, Bhende and other leaders discussed activists.
