BJP says BMC sells junk metal at low prices

Mumbai: BJP has accused the scam in BMC contracts for used metals.
BJP said that BMC sell metal scraps from water pipes disabled at prices that are much lower than the real market value that causes BMC losses.
BMC in 2020 tenders floated to sell memos that various BMC departments were produced.
The contractor should collect memos and then pay a fixed tariff per kilo metal.
However, BJP Corporator Vinod Mishra has a written complaint to Commissioner of the city of Iqbal Chahal said that BMC sells memos from the English era pipeline with prices that are much lower than market prices.
BMC sells scrap pipes for around Rs 32 Crore.
Timevegetthe BMC faces crunch crunch due to a decrease in income.
It’s time for BMC to clean up on charges of fraud in the sale of used metal.
BMC must ensure that it updates the price of metal memo more often given the fluctuations in steep metal prices on the market.
Instead of fixed prices for two years, the civil body must have a revised annual rate and all public procurement norms must be followed.
“BMC has given an additional contract RS 32 Crore as a rate of 2021 metal levels at the highest point of all time.
Even so, BMC chooses to sell the metal scrap at a price of 2020.
It will generate RS 5 Crore losses to BMC.
There are vendors in the market Ready to pay more than the price offered by the current contractor.
So the contract given to M / S Asifo technology must be detained and there is no work order that must be spent, “Mishra said in his letter.
Scrap includes two waterways that are not used by 1,800 mm, weighs 70.68 lakh kilos.
Officials said that the waterways were disabled on the side of the East and West Tansya from Bhandup to Powai were also replaced, and memos weighed 29.50 lakh kg.
Mishra said BMC could not provide additional contracts for high grades without fresh floating tenders.
“This is a violation of public procurement norms.
I have asked for a variation committee.
This kind of contract award is illegal and arbitrary.
This is a daylight robbery taxpayer money,” Mishra said.
Officials said they had fixed the tariff for metal memo for two years.
“We have a fixed rate for two years.
So this contract is given according to fixed prices.
Contractors have been given a contract to remove all memos from all BMC departments.
So there is no need to float fresh tenders for this memo.
If there is a contract that provides a higher level after The contract was given, he had no meaning, “said an official.
The Scrap metal contract was awarded by the BMC Mechanical and Electricity Department.
Officials said in 2020, BMC estimated Rs 18 per kilo for metal memo but the current contract and bid around RS 32 per kilo.
