Chennai: The Tamil Nadu BJP unit has made complicated arrangements to celebrate ‘Modi Pongal’ in Madurai on January 12 to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who came to the state to inaugurate the Government Medical College.
The state unit aims to impress party leaders and increase the moral of officials by regulating various programs during Modi visits.
In a statement, the State State President K Annamalai said PM would participate in Modi Pongal.
The head of the state has formed a 12 member committee to make arrangements for this program.
Karu Nagarajan Secretary General will lead the committee.
The party has also formed a ‘welcome committee’ under Srinivasan’s senior party party officials to make arrangements.
The party has planned a series of specialty pongal celebrations at the Mandal Party level in the state as part of the celebration of January 7.
It will lead to Madurai on January 12 where PM is expected to participate, said Karu Nagarajan.
People’s artists will be defeated to add color and taste to the event.
“We plan to bring at least 10,000 women to make a pongal on that occasion.
This will be a big event in the state.
The Modi Pongal Festival is also aimed at increasing the morale of party cadres in front of the local agency polls,” he added.
The union ministers are expected to participate in this program.
