New Delhi: Police used the water cannon to disperse Delhi BJP leaders and workers when they tried to cut water connections to the Delhi Jal Board Chairman (DJB) of Satyendar Jain’s house on Monday to protest the alleged bad water supply in the city.
The protesters also threatened to cut water supply to the residence of Minister Arvind Kejriwal if the problem was not resolved in the next two days.
The protest came a day after the AAM AAM worker (AAP) was allegedly damaging the water connection to the chairman of Delhi BJP Adesh, the residence of Adesh Gupta in Patel Nagar during the protest against the government Haryana for allegedly not providing water capital.
BJP leaders and workers gather outside the DJB zonal office in the Civil Lines area on Monday.
They accused that people in the city face a crisis because of “poor” water supply.
Overcoming the protesters, Gupta said, “People in Delhi want every drop of water.
The government of the Kejriawi government will be aware of the problems faced by the people when their water supply is cut off.” Then, the protesters reached Jain’s residence, who lived in the same area, and tried to cut water connections.
“We use the JCB machine to remove the water line outside Jain’s residence.
We will cut the water connection to the residence of Kejriwal too, if the Delhi government failed to resolve the water crisis faced by the people in the next two days,” said Delhi Head Media BJP Navin Kumar , “Police use water cannons and hold our people during protests,” he said.
On Saturday, Deputy Chairman of DJB Raghav Chadha accused Haryana held back part of the Delhi water section.
He said the DJB had moved the Guide of the Supreme Court to Haryana to release the legitimate part of the water.
The DJB has supplied 945 million gallons of water per day (MGD) to the population of the city this summer to the request of 1,150 mgd, he said.
At present, Delhi has received 479 MGDs against 609 MGD from Haryana.
In addition, Delhi draws 90 mg of ground water and receives 250 mgd from the top Canal, he said.
