Vadodara: The days after a BJP worker was arrested for deceiving his brother-in-law Rs 5.6 Lakh promised a visa for Canada and work at ONC, 10 people accused him of taking Rs 25.5 lakh from them with similar promises.
Two violations of cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracies were registered against Chintan aka Chetan Patel at JP Road and Waghodiya police station based on complaints submitted by the victims.
Sohil Hussain Sindhi, a Dabhoi resident; Liaquat Sindhi and Imtiyaz Sindha, both residents of Tandalja; And Vishwarjinh Vaghela, from Ahmedabad, was promised from work at ONC by Patel last year.
The accusation had told them that he had an influence because his father was a commissioner at the Income Tax Department in Delhi while his brother was the executor director at ONC.
He had told four young men that he would help them get a good job in public sector companies with a good payment package, but they had to issue RS 5 lakh each for it.
The four victims were captivated by Patel’s offer and gave him RS 20 lakh cash.
In September last year, Patel gave them false joined letters for the position of Public Relations officers in ONC with a monthly salary of Rs 60,000.
The police said that the letter even mentioned November 27 2020 as the date of joining.
But when they get the letters verified with the ONGC office in Ahmedabad, they learned that the letters were fake.
The victims told the police that they contacted Patel about studying the truth, but he stopped answering their calls and refused to return their money.
In March, Patel launched a housing project in Waghodiya Road and put up banners on the project site that invited interested buyers to contact him.
Rakesh Patel and four of his friends showed interest in buying a house and the number of tokens each Rs 50,000.
But Patel did not start construction and did not give the right response to the buyer.
The police said that Patel had even taken over Rs 2.5 lakh from another Waghodiya Darshan Punjabi by promising a visa for England.
But this promise was also wrong because Patel did not return Punjabi’s passport or money.
