Patna: BJP MLA from Narkatagi in the West Champaran District of Rashmi Varma on Sunday announced his resignation as a member of the legislature quoted “personal reasons”.
In his letter to the speaker Assembly Vijay Kumar Sinha, Varma wrote, “I resigned from the legislative membership of Bihar for personal reasons.
Please accept my resignation.” However, the speaker told Ti that he had not received the letter so far.
Reacting to Development, State President of BJP Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal said Varma announced his resignation because he was upset with comments made by one of his family members.
“The problem is not related to politics.
I talked to him after the announcement.
He was on his way to Patna to submit his resignation letter to the assembly speaker.
However, he then returned to Bettiah,” Jaiswal said.
Asked whether Varma had demanded that the police with “Arbitrassiness”, said Jaiswal, “it was because of family disputes.
He has several disputes related to property in his family, so he raised suspicion on the role of the police.” Sinha’s speaker assembly said he had no information about the resignation of Varma as MLA.
“I have not received a resignation letter from Varma.
The speaker and assembly office is currently closed due to Covid’s pandemic,” Sinha told Ti.
“If there is a desire of MLA to resign, it is required to intimate in writing to the speaker by personally meeting him.
Varma has so far not submit his resignation letter to me,” Sinha added.
Varma cannot be contacted by his comments even though it repeatedly repeatedly by TOI.
