GHAZIABAD: Attendants and relatives of patients with black fungus (mucormycosis) will not have to go all the way to Meerut to procure amphotericin B injections from now, as the anti-fungal drug will be available at Ghaziabad chief medical officer’s office.
To get the medicine, one has to submit required documents, including patient’s prescription, at the chief medical officer’s (CMO’s)office and deposit Rs 6,000 for each vial.
The injection will be delivered on the spot.
On Thursday, the district got its first batch of 40 vials, officials said.
Now, every day a vehicle from Ghaziabad will be sent to Meerut to get the injections.
So far, 88 black fungus cases have been reported in the district.
While 16 people are under treatment, the rest have been discharged.
The district has recorded 10 deaths till now.
Additional chief medical officer Dr Sunil Tyagi said with the new system in place, amphotericin B injections can be procured much faster.
Earlier, it would take about two days.
