HYDERABAD: Special Operations Team (SOT) of all Madhapur has detained three men partaking in illicit selling of Amphotericin B shots taken for therapy of mucormycosis (black fungus).
The key accused is a physician working in ESI Hospital, Sanathnagar.
He’s on the conduct, authorities said.
The detained are Vikas Reddy, 30, also a medical store operator, Ch Nagaraju, 27, also a personal worker, both by Chintal, along with P Sreedhar, 48, also a health store proprietor from Suchitra.
Their partner and chief accused, Dr Obul Reddy, an overall doctor at ESI Hospital, Sanathnagar, is absconding.
On Thursday, SOT sleuths detained Vikas, Sreedhar and Nagaraju via a decoy operation.
Police captured 45 vials of all Amphotericin-B shots, three vials of Ceftriaxone, Tazobactam and Olcefone-XL, Rs 18 lakh money, a car and a scooter out of their ownership.
Pet Basheerabad ACP VVS Ramalinga Raju said Obul Reddy was supplying Amphotericin vials into Vikas Reddy to market them to clients for exorbitant rates.
Vikas was promoting them to Nagaraju, that subsequently has been promoting them to Sreedhar.
“The accused had been promoting every vial for Rs 38,000 per cent 45,000,” the ACP said.
One of those accused, Shreedhar was pasting imitation Amphotericin B’s lables on different medications such as Ceftriaxone, Tazobactam and promoting them into defraud customers, the ACP said.
