MUMBAI: Juhu shore sailors on Tuesday morning awakened to blackish decoration ball like columns in the sea coast.
Many said it had become a continuing phenomenon each year.
Just that unlike last year when these formations were observed towards Juhu Koliwada aspect of this shore this time that the tar balls were detected near Mora gaon side.
Neighborhood corporator Renu Hansraj stated this was not surprising because she’s been visiting during monsoons nearly every year today due to the anguish of sea.
She stated that the sea had been bound to throw anything back that is piled inside.
She pointed out that following a few weeks these tar balls transform form into raw viewed dust type of configurations.
“Even after a couple of years if a person digs a couple of feet beneath the coast at Juhu, these structures could be seen buried within ,” she explained.
The bureau Spectron Engineers Private Limited that was hired to wash out the shore by the BMC also stated that their employees have been discovering those blacklish formations throughout the monsoons each year.
However they stated that unlike today when those are blacklish solidified chunks to a degree but before these have spread equally across the sea coast.
Activist and neighborhood resident Zoru Bhathena who has been observing those said that each and every year if lots of it collects along the sea coast then the government attract a JCB and scratch the surface.
Nevertheless that he explained occurs just if there’s a lot gathered because there were cases once the wave changes and those blacklish formations are dragged back in the sea.
Shaunak Modia marine scientist and a part of Marine Life of Mumbai (MLOM), stated this might be release that happens from boats while they wash their tanks.
“This may also be organic release amassing on the ocean bed which floats up and has come to the coast.
This could be a recurring occurrence but it has to be researched as to why petroleum since this really is now making its way into the coast.
Previously there were cases of this full 6 kilometers of the coast at Juhu being coated in oil,” said Modi.
Vishwas Mote, helper municipal commissioner of BMC K west shield accountable for Juhu beach said that since these are extremely tacky and cleaning is a struggle.
