Pathankot: Granade explosions occur near the Army Cantonment Gate here, after being alert which has been sounded in the border district, police said on Monday.
There were no casualties reported in the incident that took place on Sunday night and called the “terror attack” by the police.
Some attackers were transmitted through unknown motorbikes throwing a grenade in front of Dwar Triveni from the military area near Dheerapul here, the police said.
Asked about what type of grenade used in the attack, Director General of Police Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota told PTI, “It is a P-86 grenade made in China.” Police said they were examining CCTV footage area to identify attackers.
“CCTV recordings are being analyzed,” said Senior Police Supervisor, Pathankot, Surendra Lamba.
After the explosion, the warning was heard in Pathankot and the nearest area.
Check vehicles are intensified at various points in and around the district.
The case below the relevant section of the explosive law has been registered with respect to the incident, police said.
Pathankot employees and army personnel conduct search operations near the border area under the Narot Jaimal Singh police station after several villagers claimed to have noticed some suspicious people on Sunday.
After the information was received, the search operation was made with the help of drones, a police officer said.
In particular, the Pathankot Air Force Base was attacked by terrorists in January 2016.
Another terror attack took place at a police station in Dinanagar in the neighboring district of Gurdapur in July 2015.
Previously on Monday, Deputy Minister of Punjab Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said he had called a meeting of senior officer zones The Amritsar border and Jalandhar zone on Tuesday to review legal and order situations and security in the state.
Randhawa, who also held a home portfolio, also issued strict instructions to the police to increase night patrol in the state.
At least one third of the officers confirmed in every commissioner or district will be diaularly because of patrol according to the list.
In a statement, Randhawa said that it had arrived at the notice that an adequate police patrol was not done at night.
He said at least one third of the officers must be in charge of patrolling at night and “I can randomly check the location of the attendant attendant anytime by making a video call to the party concerned”.
State security will not be compromised at any cost and tight action will begin with negligent officers, he said.
