Jalalabad: Bomb tore the vehicle carrying the Taliban police chief in East Afghanistan on Thursday, killing him and injuring 11 others, officials said.
The explosion occurred in Asadabad, the provincial capital of Kunar, targeting the Taliban police chief for the Shigal District, told an official from the Islamic group.
“The police chief has died and eleven people have been injured,” he told AFP, talking to the terms of anonymity.
A doctor at the Kunar Central Hospital was confirmed to AFP that it had received 11 injured people, including four Taliban fighters and seven civilians.
No one claims responsibility for the attack but the group of Islamic countries, which is active in the East Afghanistan, has claimed a similar attack on the Taliban in the past.
The Taliban has struggled with IS-K since its appearance in Afghanistan in 2014.
Is-K has claimed responsibility for some of the last attacks, including suicide bombings among worshipers last week at the Shiite Mosque in Shia Province which killed around 100 people.
