Blinken called New PM Nepal Deuba; discuss bilateral ties

Washington / Kathmandu: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has discussed the new Prime Minister Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba progress of bilateral partnerships, including cooperation in the fight against Covid-19 and the impact of climate change.
Blinken held a telephone conversation with Deuba on Tuesday.
They emphasized the importance of As-Nepal’s partnership and discussed US contributions recently of 1.5 million vaccines and other Covid-19 assistance to Nepal, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

Prime Minister Nepal Deuba said he exchanged views with Blinken in bilateral bonds, covid- 19 pandemics and climate change.
“I happily talked to @secblinken and exchanged views on our bilateral relations of multifaceted,” Deuba tweeted.
“We renewed a joint commitment to continue our cooperative partnership for the benefit of two countries and our people., Deuba said,” said Prime Minister.
In Kathmandu, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal said the Prime Minister Deuba had a friendly conversation with Blinken.

The Secretary of State surpassed the warm congratulations to the prime minister about his appointment, according to the Ministry.
Deuba was appointed as Prime Minister for the fifth record on July 12 after the Intervention of the Supreme Court of Nepal.
Prime Minister Deuba appreciates the US government to provide the Covid-19 vaccine and request further assistance from the right vaccine to cover children and younger populations to prevent broadly speculating the third wave of pandemics, the foreign ministry said.
Nepal also looks for more Covid-19 vaccines from US producers such as Pfizer and Moderna.
Conversations also cover various fields of nepal development priority, cooperation between the United States and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
The MCC program aims to overcome the two most binding nepal constraints for economic growth: low energy supply and high transportation costs.
Deuba and Blinken also discussed “the problem of global warming and climate change and its impact on the economy of mountainous countries that are vulnerable to climate such as Nepal,” said the statement.
Prime Minister Deuba underlined the credentials of Nepal’s democratic and commitment to human rights and the supremacy of law, he said.
Delivering his greetings and the best hope for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Prime Minister Deuba expressed his willingness to work with the Biden government, according to his ministry.
Meanwhile, the US Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry said that the US government was positive about providing the support needed for Nepal to help fight Pandemic Covid-19.
During the meeting with Finance Minister Janardan Sharma on Tuesday, Berry said that the US government would assist in increasing the education and health sector Nepal.
Nepal has so far reported 685,673 cases of Covid-19 with 9,758 deaths.
