Ramstein: US Secretary Antony Blinken warned on Wednesday that the Taliban had to get legitimacy from the world, after talking with allies on how to present new government unity in Afghanistan.
“Taliban seek international legitimacy.
Whatever legitimacy – any support – must be obtained,” said Blinken to reporters at the US air base in Ramstein, Germany, after leading the 20th ministerial virtual meeting with the Afghan crisis.
A senior foreign department official said all countries were widely on the same page in dealing with the Taliban caregivers – including Pakistan, historically the ally rebels.
“Pakistan is there.
They talk about their unique role, from their point of view …
they certainly say that we are in a position where we must be involved to a certain extent,” the official told reporters on the Blinken plane.
“But it’s not along the line, we think we should recognize or legitimize the government in the near future,” he said.
The official said Washington did not have contacts, even indirectly, with other main neighbors, Iran, in Afghanistan.
Iran has historically opposed the Taliban but develops relations such as the United States, Tehran Armen-Nemesis, withdraw its withdrawal.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Tweeted: “We may not let the creation of political emptiness in Afghanistan lead to insecurity and instability.” A stable & peaceful Afghan only achieved through a lower regional & int’l involvement, no less, regional & int’l.
“Pakistan, as close neighbors cannot escape,” he said.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas recorded the international community expected Taliban uphold human rights, including women, giving access to humanitarian assistance and allowing them to leave the country.
Maas said he believed the talks on Wednesday were “starting points for international coordination” about how to deal with the Taliban.
Blinken and Maas both criticized the caregiver government announced in Afghanistan on Tuesday, who did not have female or non-Taliban members and included the Minister of Internal Affairs of the United States wanting to arrest allegations of terrorism.
Blinken said the briefing cabinet would be rated “by his actions”.
The Blinken stop at Ramstein was a second basic visit in a few days, after he visited Qatar on Tuesday.

At the entrance to the vast hangar where some of the 11,000 Afghans in Ramstein are waiting for flights to the United States, Blinken showed photos on his own telephone to the son of Mustafa Mohammadi who was four years old, an Afghan military veteran changed refugees who worked with the Embassy US.
Stepchildren from the savior of the Holocaust and older supporters for refugees, Blinken also conducted an emergency tour for some children who lost their parents.
“Many, many, many Americans really look forward to welcoming you and asking you to come to the United States,” he said.
Depending on the wall is a work of art by children, including a photo of a girl on a cliff under the dark blue sky with a broken heart and message in English, “Tell my mother I miss you.” The United States and its allies evacuated around 123,000 people, most Afghans were afraid of Taliban retribution, in the last days of the 20-year US War which was ended with President Joe Biden last month.
But US officials admitted that more and said the Taliban had agreed to let them go.
Blinken vowed to press the Taliban to allow charter flights from Afghanistan after criticism, the US government did not do enough to help those who were still stranded.
“We work to do all our power to support the flight and to get it,” Blinken said.
Germany, like many US ally, has celebrated Biden’s victory over Donald Trump and the emphasis of the new government states working with all over the world.
But even a number of close allies have been critical of how Biden ends the 20-year war in Afghanistan, which leads to a government-backed government destroyed in a few days.
Armin Laschet, leader of the ruling party and German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s candidate to replace it, described the Afghan mission as a “biggest assistance” in NATO history.
Biden has long been liked out of Afghanistan, on the grounds that the US-led NATO mission has achieved the core objectives of accountability for attacks on September 11, 20 years ago this week.
