Nagpur: Sustainable strikes from resident doctors at Government Medical Universities (GMC) in Maharashtra continued for second consecutive days on Saturday.
The second round of discussion between the Central Committee of the Maharashtra Doctor Resident Association (MARD) and the state government failed to bring any positive results because of which doctors had decided to continue their strike.
Because Gandhi Jayanti on Saturday, the doctor celebrated with ‘Gandhigiri’.
They paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and organized blood donor camps in Yavatmal, Nagpur GMCH, Nanded and Ambjogai.
More than 200 blood bags are collected.
“We have received support from the Indian Medical Association (IMA), nurses associations, and also from our internship friends.
Although, they did not participate in strikes, they supported our requests only to neglect of academic costs and better hostels,” said Dr.
Dnyaneshwar Dhobale, Central President of Mard.
The resident doctor was still hopeful from the round of another discussion but was not ready to be satisfied with less than written guarantees from the medical education minister.
Meanwhile, work continues to affect GMC in the state on the second day too.
As a result, patients who visit GMC must be careful now and so on.
Public visits can be postponed and the emergency must be given a priority because health workers will be limited to the hospital.
According to sources, even professors of associations and doctors on contracts tend to join a resident doctor if the problem is not resolved in the next two-three days.
