Blood samples are collected to test elephantiasis

Mysuru: After a resident in Ramuja Road Contracting Elephantiasis, the Mysuru District Health Department has, for the past three days, has collected blood samples from other residents of locality.
Even though MySuru was free from Elephantiasis, the resident who was questioned was reportedly contracted disease when he was in coastal districts.
BV Corporator Manjunath said that they had collected blood samples from residents between the 14th Ramuja Road cross.
“So far, we have collected blood samples from 550 residents.
There are no complaints from lymphatic or elephantiasis filariasis.
To prevent diseases spread by mosquitoes, this special drive is being carried out,” said Manjunath.
The authorities are waiting for the test results, which are expected to be equipped in two days.
“If anything found is infected with a parasite responsible for this disease, we will expand this drive,” Corporator added.
