Bengaluru: Residents of Channaraya Swamy Temple Street, Varthur, left without pipe supply for decades but they never complained.
But the poor condition of the stretch of one and a half km has now brought residents to their knees as a water tanker they rely on find it difficult to move through land lanes that have become the way.
Residents have asked Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and Bengaluru water sewerage and supply board to improve stretch, but in vain.
“There is no drop of water here.
We don’t have a borewells or water connection Cauvery,” said Javeed Pasha, a resident.
The road is home to around 100 families that largely depend on tankers.
On average, around 30 tankers go home every day, each carrying 4,000 liters of water.
The problem starts when a utility is like BWSSB and Bescom dig the way to the pipeline.
With the land filled in trenches loosen, the road turns into swamps after rain.
“The tanker driver has begun to complain and cannot supply water to us because of the poor road conditions,” he added.
Gururuhy Reddy, the owner of the tanker, said he was now forced to attract the vehicle.
“The wheel of our vehicle sank into the road.
Half of the tanker content was then transferred to the other empty, which was pulled to supply water to the residents.
The same tanker returned and took the remaining water for inventory again,” he added.
The process is not only boring but expensive, rue the owner.
“The owner of the tanker around Varthur asked the BBMP at least ensuring the road has an even surface if they can’t alienate it,” Reddy Toi said.
Poor countries have forced residents to park their vehicles at least 1.5 km from Jalan Mucky and walk barefoot to their home.
K nagaratha, another resident, said many times, he stumbled on Jalan Slushy.
“I’m afraid to get out of home now,” he said.
“While BWSSB just finished working underground drainage, Bescom still did it.
They had to enter a wet mixture and give it to us, but failed to do it.
In a week, we will repair the road to allow easy trip,” said a BBMP official.
