Bengaluru: While BBMP builds a shelter and BMTC running the bus, poor coordination between the two institutions has taken victims on public transport users in the city.
Statistics show around 56% of bus stops in the city do not have shelters.
Note BMTC revealed that there were 2,212 bus stops in the BBMP jurisdiction.
However, only 962 has a shelter.
The passenger waits for the bus at 1,250 stops left, which is less roof or chair, must be dared to bask or rain.
Waiting for BMTC is 33 lakh before Covid-19 which has been reduced to 22 lakh now.
The number of buses operated is only 5,300 compared to the previous 5,600.
Some proposals for regulating the bus shelter remain on paper.
Five years ago, BBMP had a proposal to build a shelter which was equipped with route, signage and street furniture but mostly limited to the CBD area.
In many places, bus stops are not officially under trees or become parking for taxis and autorickshaws.
There are more than 8,000 stops like that throughout the city.
There is also a BMTC bus complaint that stops in the middle of the road, and is not at the designated stop.
Shaheen Shasa, a member of the Bangaloru Bus Prayaikara Vedike, said: “The BBMP is responsible for the shelter and BMTC only focuses on bus operations, so there is no accountability.
It’s fun for a passenger to wait for the bus to stop with an umbrella.
Some buses leaked during the rain.
Some places, there are too many bus and passenger shelters who are confused where the bus stops.
“BBMP officials said most of the shelters were proposed to be built under the basis of Build Operate Transfer (BOT) but advertisers were very interested in the CBD area where They get high visibility.
BMTC officials said they sent to the BBMP list where the shelter was needed.
