B’luru boy loses forearm to toxin at birthday party

BENGALURU: A 17-year-old boy from Chamarajpet recently attended a friend’s birthday party only to be left with a swollen right elbow.
His forearm had to be amputated as doctors found a poisonous substance in it.
The teenager suspects that the youth whose birthday celebrations he attended had injected drugs into his arm during the bash.
Based on a complaint from the teenager’s mother, police registered a case against the youth under IPC section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison with intent to commit offence).
The suspect is a volleyball coach, who’s in jail for vehicle theft.
The complainant said: “My son discontinued studies after class 10.
On May 31, the coach invited my son for his birthday.
He went to his house in Chamarajpet around 9pm and returned at 11 pm.
About four days later, his right elbow was swollen.
We went to Sanjay Gandhi hospital and doctors said there was a poisonous substance in the elbow and the forearm had to be amputated.
When asked how it had happened, my son said at the party, the coach powdered some tablets, dissolved them in water and injected the same into his right arm.” Cops have requested doctors from the hospital to submit a report on the poisonous substance in the boy’s elbow.
“Based on that, we will initiate legal action against the suspect,” police said, adding: “The youth is in Central Prison on vehicle theft charges.
We will approach the court seeking a body warrant to question him.”
