B’luru couple demanded tailor to spoil sari, win the case

Bengaluru: The old couple sued their local tailor for allegedly damaging the expensive silk sari given to fall.
After the battle of the court which lasted almost two years, a Bengaluru consumer forum recently ruled in supporting the couple.
The court ordered a tailor to restore the cost of sari (RS 21,975), regardless of compensation of Rs 10,000 for problems caused by a partner.
On August 18, 2019, Mangala Evani, 65, a Judicial layout in GKVK, received Sutra Mysore’s Sari from her 75-year-old husband, Evani, who had bought it from a showroom.
On October 29, 2019, Mangala and her daughter went to an environmental boutique run by one Divya to get the fall of sari sewn, regardless of changing some other clothes.
Divya promised to complete all tailor / seam work in a few days.
However, a few days later, Divya called Mangala to tell her that Sari was burned in several places.
Mangala demands compensation, claiming boutiques has damaged the new silk juice.
Without a response for about 50 days, Evani and Mangala sent legal notice to Divya for lack of service.
Demanding appropriate compensation, the duo approaches rural and urban bengaluru first adds to redressal consumer disputes in Shantinagar.
In litigation which began on January 18, 2020, customers presented their claims through a lawyer, while Divya defended himself through his lawyer.
Divya believes that the complaint was wrong when the customer had given him old juice, which was previously burned during ironing and that he was wrongly responsible for damage.
Divya further said that because of the busy work schedule, he failed to examine Sari thoroughly before taking it.
‘Boutique operators should check the Sari’in process which took place close to 24 months, Bengaluru’s consumer court judge noted that Divya was tied to tasks to examine Sutra Sari before receiving it, and tried to reveal that he did not pay attention to the part was damaged, unacceptable.
In the verdict spoken on January 13, 2022, the judges decided that the tailor had to pay the sari value (RS 21,975), RS 5,000 as a damage and another RS ​​5,000 on the cost of the Customer’s court.
All amount must be paid in 30 days from the date of the court order.
