B’luru: Curbs eased for liquor shops and key govt offices

BENGALURU: The state government on Friday announced more relaxations from June 14 in the 19 districts, including Bengaluru Urban, where Covid positivity rate has fallen below 5%.
The relaxations will be in force till June 21 after which revised guidelines may be issued depending on the Covid-19 situation in these districts, the government reiterated.
While bars and pubs have been allowed to reopen only to sell liquor bottles as takeaway, standalone liquor shops have been allowed to open from 6am to 2pm.
Earlier, these shops were allowed to operate from 6am to 10am.
Optical shops have been allowed to reopen between 6am and 2pm.
The revised Unlock 1.0 guidelines announced by the state said regional transport offices (RTOs), tahsildar, taluk and all other offices of the revenue department, housing, cooperation and Nabard have been allowed to function with 50% staff.
Weekend curfew norms have been relaxed to allow street vendors, PDS outlets, liquor shops (for takeaway) and shops selling groceries, milk and meat to stay open from 6am to 2pm.
Restaurants and hotels can remain open through the day for only home delivery.
The state has also allowed skill training programmes organised by the health sector to follow Covid protocol.
Relaxations not applicable to 11 distsThese relaxations will not apply to the 11 districts — including Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Dakshina Kannada, Belagavi and Shivamogga — where stringent lockdown restrictions will continue till June 21.
While weekend curfew guidelines have been relaxed in the districts with low positivity, all non-essential industries will remain shut for the two days.
Those dealing with emergency and essential services and requiring 24×7 presence of personnel are exempted.
People will not be allowed to move around on the two days either; while they can collect parcels from restraurants on weekdays, it is not permitted on weekends.
BMTC buses to the airport will operate on a skeletal basis to facilitate travellers heading into Bengaluru or flying out.
