Bengaluru: Amid concerns over infection transmitted through vectors, a survey that is ongoing by BBMP has found that around 25% of the households discussed have the breeding spots of mosquitoes in Bengaluru.
Of the 166 households included in the larval survey, at least 40 have reasons of mosquito breeding, said Randeep D, Special Commissioner (Health), BBMP.
The door-to-door survey of environmental levels is still in the early stages.
It was taken by a Piki as a precautionary measure.
While this city recorded 245 dengue cases this year, the health department officials suspect this may not be the right number because there are opportunities under reporting.
BBMP officials said at least 20-30 Dengue cases have been reported in the past week, adding this cannot be considered a surge.

Venkatesh, Surveillance Officer, BBMP, said the situation was not a grave, but asked for a warning given that the public was more focused on Covid-19, which could cause ignorance of diseases transmitted through other vectors.
Venkatesh said dengue fever needed to be examined at the initial stage.
“We have coordinated at the environmental level and Asha workers are conducting surveys.
If the rain continues and running water, the chance of breeding mosquitoes is lacking.
But when the rain stops for several days, mosquitoes can breed in places where water is recorded or remains stagnant, “He explained.
The officer said wherever they found threats, disinfectants were sprayed.
“We also tried to create awareness among the public,” he added.
According to health officials, the focus is to kill or prevent the breeding of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes.
With DenV virus, a viral family member called Flaviviridae.
The main vector for DENV virus is the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which can also spread Chikungunya and Zika Fever.
