Bengaluru: Police shot and injured a 31-year-old suspect in the kidnapping and killing case on Saturday.
The injured suspect was Lohit Kumar aka Rohit, a resident of HSR layout who faced 17 criminal cases, including murder, efforts to kill, robbery, and kidnapping for ransom.
He and his colleagues were arrested in December last year on charges of kidnapping former Minister Varthur Prakash.
This time, the Ulsoor police were looking for lohit for alleged role in the kidnapping and murder of Vijay Kumar, the driver of the car-cum-financial, close to the dry lake bed in Tamil Nadu, in July.
The police have caught nine people in this case and were looking for noise who escaped.
The police said they received information that Lohit would be near Challaghatta at Jeevan Bima Nagar.
A police team reached a place around 5:15 a.m.
and found it.
“The team directed Lohit to surrender, but he attacked Constable Syed Mohinulla and Sub-Inspector Amaresh.
Sensing Danger, Inspector Harish Kumar fired around in the air as a warning.
When Loher continued to attack, a shot was fierce in his left knee,” said an officer.
