B’luru sees 47% increase in detention zones

Bengaluru: The capital of Karnataka has seen a sharp increase in the number of detention zones (MCZ) in the last 10 days.
On July 29, the city has 108 micro detention zones, but that number rose to 159 – a 47% increase – on August 8.
Zone Mahadevapura only has 42 MCZ active, highest, followed by Bommanahalli (24) and South and Yelahanka (20).
While the West Zone has nine MCZ, Rajarajeshwari Nagar has the least six o’clock.
But Gaurav Gupta, the President Commissioner of the BBMP, said the number of detention zones should not be the cause of worries because they are like watching watches or supervision points.
“What’s important is the total number of cases.
That’s what we need to be vigilant,” he said.
Randeep D, Special Commissioner (Health), BBMP, linked a large number of MCZs in Mahadevapura to the floating population.
In a steady increase in the number of MCZs, Randeep said it was because reporting and tracking had increased.
“Because we have started transparently to declare the detention zone in the public forum, people are careful,” he said.
The BBMP authority said Post Unlock, people came home from one city to another and the trial was ongoing.
“In most of the positive cases we have seen since June, the severity of infection is less that can be caused by a vaccine.
Vaccination status among people who test positive is being collected,” BBMP official said.
Dr.
BK Vijendra, Chief Health Officer, BBMP, said the majority of people who tested positively had a history of travel.
“They are not necessarily from Kerala and Maharashtra but also from other states.
If three people test positive from a small place, say a building, we declare the detention zone to prevent transmission,” said Dr.
Vijendra.
The everyday case in Bengaluru has floated around the 300-500 mark.
“We do not expect a significant reduction in cases considering the limitation of locking and the interstate of the journey that is permitted,” said Randeep.
While the level of participants of the test in the state 1.3% from August 1 to 7, in Urban District Bengaluru, including BBMP, it was 0.8%.
The highest test level of test is in Kannada Dakshina with 5.2%.
“Even though cases in Bengaluru do not diminish, the situation in this city is not like Dakshina Kannada where a surge is seen,” Dr.
Vijendra said.
