B’luru: This lake waste is now a ‘burning’ problem

On Lake Malathahalli, Pikic contract workers burned bushes and waste materials on open land, then threw it on the lake, leaving the occupant occupants that were shocked
Ahuge raised smoke originating from Lake Mallahahalli triggered panic among residents of RR Nagar on Thursday morning.
Closer scenery revealed that contract workers from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahangara Puku (BBMP) burned bushes, exhaust material on open ground.

According to the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the fine of RS 25,000 was imposed on people who burned a large number of waste in the open space.
However, officials had underestimated the incident by stating that they had issued a notice to the contractor.
Officials said that they had involved workers to clear the bushes and forests to conduct surveys.
“It was the ignorance of workers.
When citizens complained to us, we immediately rushed to the place and stopped him,” said a BBMP official to the RR Nagar division.
He added that BBMP plans to build a concrete retaining wall around the lake and will build a diversion channel.
“There are some encroachment around the lake.
The retaining wall will ensure that no one has violated the future,” he said.
Nearly a year ago, the Division of Drain the BBMP water has built a diversion channel in one lake, which is spread in 40 hectares.
BBMP also has plans to make trails, sandways, and railways.
Officials say they will only take compound wall construction like now.
Think of that the Conservation Council and Development of Karnataka Tank (KTCDA) has approved the plan.
That is the ignorance of the workers.
When residents complained, we immediately rushed to the place and stopped him – a BBMP official
Local residents, however, were not happy with plans and were also surprised by the KTCDA approved compound wall construction.
Some say some trees are fair to build a wall, which is estimated to cost Rs 19 Crore.
V Ramaprasad, organizers of lake friends, demanded that this project be dropped.
“The public money was wasted to build a compound wall around the lake.
There are many ways to fence down the lake without influencing the lake ecosystem.
The concrete wall will kill the lake, “he said.
BBMP, he said, was contrary to the high court order.
“This is just an insult to the court.
The BBMP must be dragged to court,” he said.
