BMC collects more than Rs 60 Crore in a fine for ‘without mask’

Mumbai: BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Friday that by far collected more than Rs 60 Crore as a fine of people who did not wear masks in public places since the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.
According to the Civic Agency, a fine of RS 60.48,34,400 was collected between April 2020 and July 2021.
This number includes a fine collected by Mumbai police and the train also until July 15.
The Civic body has been made mandatory to wear masks in public places last year.
Citizens who do not follow the rules of facial masks in public places fined Rs 200 by BMC.
The fine of RS 51.90.23,400 has been collected by BMC, while Mumbai police have restored a fine of Rs 8.07.71,800.
The fine of RS 50.39.200 has been collected from those traveling on the central, western and port routes.
Meanwhile, drives immunization in government centers will operate until 5 pm on Friday.
Residents over 18 years can take the first and second doses of covishield, while health workers and frontline workers can obtain a second dose of covishield.
Beneficiaries above 45 years, can take the first dose and both covishield at the drive-in center.
BMC categorically mentioned that 50 percent dose will be given to people with an appointment online, and 50 percent for registration in place.
The second dose of the covishield vaccine will also be given to those traveling from Mumbai to foreign countries for work and education or participating in the Tokyo Olympics.
BMC states that the second dose will only be given if residents have completed 28 days of the first dose post.
They need to carry documents needed such as receipt of receipt and form I-20 or DS-160 for foreign visas.
Also, registration in place will be done.
The Civic body has urged people to bring the first dose certificate.
According to the BMC health department, a total of 63,00,050 residents have been inoculated against the coronavirus in the metropolis until Thursday.
Of these, 13,98,557 beneficiaries also received the second dose, BMC said.
At present, Mumbai has 407 active Covid-19 vaccination centers – 286 BMC, 20 run by the Maharashtra government and 101 private centers.
