BMC Defends Rs 15-Crore Penguin Tender

Mumbai: BMC on Wednesday defends the Tender of Rs 15 Crore for maintenance of penguin cages at the Byculla Zoo.
BMC claims that after the arrival of penguins, his income from the zoo has increased dramatically.
He claimed that the revenue from the zoo increased by Rs 12.26 Crore from Rs 2.1 Crore after Penguin was brought here in 2017.

The total cumulative revenue of the zoo between April 2014 and March 2017 is Rs 2.1 Crore.
However, after the arrival of Penguin in March 2017, total cumulative revenue of zoos between April 2017 and March 2020 Is Rs 14.36 Crore.
Therefore, it is clear that the revenue of the zoo increased by Rs 12.26 Crore, “said Commissioner of Iqbal Chahal City.
“The total value of the tender for expenses for penguins is Rs 11.46 Crore.
It is very clear that the increase in zoos revenue after the arrival of penguins is far more than expenditure on maintenance of penguins in the zoo,” Chahal added.
BJP Mla Ameet Satam said: “The question is not about income to the zoo because of the penguin and expenses , which is compiled without doing the right tariff analysis.
“Corporate Congress Ravi Raja said:” This high care cost is not justified at all.
BMC spends more for maintenance than in hospitals.
It must review peer at the cost of maintenance of penguins.
