Mumbai: In the midst of increasing concerns over the Omicron variant, BMC on Saturday asked residents to fully avoid gathering or organizing new parties for Christmas and New Year.
Officials said that the team would be deployed in every ward to take action against violators.
BMC said that in a closed room, people up to 50% of the capacity of the place will be permitted.
In open space, up to 25% of space capacity will be permitted.
If a meeting with more than 1,000 people is planned, previously permission from the Disaster Management Authority is mandatory.
Only those who are fully vaccinated are permitted in public places, including in public transportation.
All hotels, restaurants, cinema rooms, malls and other governments and private companies have been asked to comply with the rules.
“Vaccination is full of all employees functioning in public places / places and all participants at the event / ceremony are a must.
The action will be taken to the establishment if the rules are found violated,” said BMC, added that the use of proper masks, hand hygiene, maintaining A safe distance, cleaning and regular disinfection of all places / toilets are a must.
Iqbal City Commissioner Singh Chahal appealed to citizens to avoid Christmas and New Year’s parties and said that Omicron spread quickly throughout the world, placing pressure on the health system.
“Although repeated appeals, it has been observed that the guidelines are not correctly followed in most places, especially at wedding ceremonies and other ceremonies,” BMC said in a statement, adding that leading personality, celebrities who have an influence on society also need to be aware of the problem and act in accordance.
Last week, actor Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora and Sohail actor Khan Khan’s wife was tested positive for Covid-19 after a meeting at the Movie Maker House Johar.
Later, the wife of Sanjay Sanjay Kapoor Maheep and her daughter Shanaya was also tested positive.
