BMC gives permission to 2K ganpati mandals

Mumbai: For Ganeshotsav 2021, BMC until Thursday has given permission to a total of 1,996 mandal ganpati in the city, from 2,520 which has been propagated.
This year, the Civic body has denied permits for 381 mandal while 143 applications are still in process on Tuesday.
At BMC D Ward (Grant Road), S (Bhandup), N (Ghatkopar), G-North (Dadar) and K-East (Andheri and Vile Parle East), more than 100 mandals each have received permission.
This year, the number of permits given is higher than last year 1,700.
Girish Wallawalkar, Secretary of Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti, said this year more restrictions had been placed than last year.
“The government has limited physical Darshan to small mandsia too.
Not everyone can provide Darshan online to worshipers because they cannot afford the costs involved, such as installing a screen and getting the connection needed.
On the one hand we let the one to be vaccinated to take the train.
Local and on the other hand, we limit Darshan to a small mandal, “Walawarkar said.
President Samiti Naresh Dahibavkar said in 2020, because the pandemic, 90% of the mandal had submitted permission.
“This year, the enthusiasm returns and 100% of the registered mandal has been implemented.
However, after government restrictions on Darshan’s physical, many mandals will find it very difficult to celebrate the entire festival with the same power they want,” he said.
BMC also appealed to residents to soak idols in artificial ponds instead of seafront and lakes.
Earlier this week, BMC issued a new rule to be followed for Ganeshotsav.
It prohibits all procession or meeting and limits the number of people to only 10 for GanPati Mandals for Visarjan or soaking and only five for household idols.
BMC said that if a household ganesha idol made of clay or environmentally friendly, it must be embedded in a bucket or drum at home, if possible.
In addition, idol immersion in the detention zone must be carried out in the mandal premise itself or must be postponed.
BMC has asked all the mandals to refrain from stopping vehicles that bring idols anywhere on the road during dyeing.
