Mumbai: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday launched four Covid-19 cellular vaccination units to vaccinate HIV patients, commercial sex workers (CSWS), construction workers, migrant workers and street vendors.
The initiative, vaccine on the wheel, supported by the American India Foundation to vaccinate the neglected community members was launched by the Supplementary City Commissioner of Suresh Kakani.
These cellular units will provide free vaccination.
“BMC has prepared a list of the community.
For this, help was sought from the Mumbai Regency AIDS control community, Union Vendor Street and other NGOs.
Every cellular unit will have one trained doctor, two nurses, two medical assistants and ambulance drivers.
They will be given with Laptops and WiFi facilities so they can register on the Cowin portal and issue certificates to beneficiaries.
The number of cellular centers will also increase as needed, “said a BMC official.
On the first day, 50 street vendors and 25 CSPS were vaccinated.
