Mumbai: Minister of Development Urban State Eknath Shinde told the State Assembly on Tuesday that BMC lost income worth Rs 2,000 Crore as a property tax in the city had begun since the pandemic began.
After he showed that the country had not released property taxes for residences under 500 square feet in the city in accordance with the promise of Sena’s Shiv election, Shinde said this was being considered, and the country would soon make a decision.
“Every five years, there is an increase in property.
This time there will be a 17% increase , “Shinde said.
The opposition leader and former Head of Devendra Fadnivis showed that Sena had not fulfilled his election promises to free the residence of less than 500 square feet of property tax.
“The total neglect is promised but only a few are released,” he said.
Allegations are only given to the general tax components of property tax for homes under 500 square feet.
There is 1.85 units of Lakh’s residence in a city that is under 500 square feet.
Responding to BJP, Shinde said, “We agree that there must be a total neglect on property tax for residence under 500 square feet and decisions about this will be taken soon.” In run-up to the BMC poll in 2017, Shiv Sena has the promised Manifesto to eliminate property taxes for all flats up to 500 square feet in the city.
It also announced that residence between 500 and 700 square feet will get a tax discount.
However, further neglect is given only for the general tax components of the property tax.
