Mumbai: In viral videos, the BMC cleansing marshal was beaten by several residents in Juhu on Monday after he asked someone to pay a fine because he did not wear a face mask.
The West West Office office BMC said that they would register.
Police complaints in this case because residents also took a marshal cellphone and threw it.
The video showed a man without a face mask who beat Marshal and several other people also joined him to beat Marshal.
Marshal finally managed to escape from the site.
Civil officials said they were informed that Marshal clicked on someone’s picture without a face mask and approached him for a fine.
The person immediately wore a face mask but then changed with violence when photographic evidence was shown to him.
A citizenship official from the Solid Waste Department said that the incident occurred around Monday afternoon.
“We insist on taking photos to guard in case someone refuses to pay a fine stating that they have a face mask on them,” he said.
Cleaning Marshals has been deployed in high leg areas and those who do not wear masks are subject to a fine of Rs 200.
