BMC sits on 5L + dosage, Lax residents in the middle of the festival

Mumbai: For the first time since the Covid vaccination drive starts on January 16, BMC has more than 5 doses of the lakh vaccine, but some takers.
Citizenship officials said because of the festival season, even those scheduled to take second shots.
The hesitation of the second vaccine appeared as a trend throughout the country – almost 16 doses of crores were available with the state and UTS on Saturday-7 crore because their second shot still took it.
Only 2.42 crore doses provided in this country during the Diwali week ended November 5, around 50% of the 4 doses of crore given for October 23-29.
Meanwhile, total inoculation has crossed 108 doses of crore.
‘The second shot conversion of the Covid vaccine is better in urban areas’Experts not sure whether the decrease in vaccination is caused by the festival season alone or also the results of poor awareness in non-metro areas.
“Polio campaigns are very specific about two drops and weeks of polio, but there is no direct message that Covid vaccination requires two shots.
We only hear common messages about the availability of Covid Vaccination,” Sachin Pandey, a Gandhinagar professor who maintains data vaccination on his website https: //Covidtikaherokuapp.com, said.
Pandey added that the second dose conversion (ratio between the number of people who was entirely vaccinated and the number of people who were vaccinated with the first dose of 84 days ago) poorly in 21 states and trade union areas.
While the All-India ratio is 0.826, the appropriate number for Maharashtra stands at 0.883.
However, Pandey said a closer look at the district wise data showed that the second shot conversion was better at urban centers.
In Mumbai and Delhi, for example, the ratio of each is 0.937 and 0.927 respectively.
“However, in Noida, which includes several rustic bags too, conversion is 0.694,” he said.
He added, “Seeing the wise city data and comparing it with the entire state, it seems that the second dose conversion is lacking in rural areas.
This area will be better with consciousness will take the second dose.” However, in Mumbai, where the first dose vaccination almost reached 99% and two full doses of vaccination at 61%, officials from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation struggled to increase the latter.
“We called people, we surveyed housing colonies and slums to find out the people who had delayed their second dose, and we have provided a car center,” said Supplementary City Commissioner Suresh Kakani.
Kakani hopes that vaccination will take steps after the Diwali festival ends.
BMC has stopped vaccination for four days due to poor voters during Diwali; Vaccination in public centers will be continued on Monday.
