MUMBAI: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) surveys will be conducted following year in January-February when the Covid position is under control, Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar stated on Tuesday.
She also added,”If it is not, polls will likely be postponed” This stems amid Maharashtra BJP chief Ashish Shelar on Tuesday alleging that the ruling Shiv Sena has been habituated to postpone the elections into the Mumbai civil system, due next February, mentioning the pandemic scenario and chance of another wave.
Shelar also alleged that the Sena was hoping to find an expansion to the present regulatory body of the BMC so it may get a”cut” from the Rs 20,000 crore tender to be floated for establishing a sewer treatment plant.
“The Shiv Sena is conspiring to postpone that the BMC elections under the guise of this COVID-19 position and also the prospect of another wave of this pandemic.
In the event the Sena’s need is to be approved, then we’ll need the BMC’s regulating body shouldn’t float or clean new tenders whereas on expansion”.
Even the Bandra west MLA also alleged incidence of”cut (currency )” clinic for tenders under the opinion of this Sena that will be the ruling party in the BMC for almost 3 years.
“The BJP is from letting any expansion to the present regulatory body of the BMC,” he explained.
Even the Sena and the BJP, that were judgment spouses in Maharashtra in 2014 to 2019, had disputed that the Mumbai civic surveys held in February 2017, independently.
At a setback to the Sena, that believes Mumbai because its citadel, the outcomes had thrown up a hung decision because the BJP made giant strides by winning 82 chairs, only two chairs behind the Sena.
