Mumbai: BMC said it had not taken over some of the land from Amitabh Bachchan’s Pratiksha Bungalow plot because it did not have a contractor for the road widening project.
In a report submitted to Lokayukta Justice VM Kanade, BMC said it did not have a road contractor to spread Jalan Juhu and therefore would take over part of the bungalow land and destroy a compound wall in the next financial year when a road contractor was appointed for that purpose.
Corporator Congress Tulip Miranda has complained to Maharashtra Lokayukta that BMC has failed to take over land from Bachchan for widening roads since 2017.
The trial on complaints was held on Friday.
“Notice was given for the bungalow plot in 2017 under Section 299 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Law.
There were several problems regarding the demarcation of the road, so the new survey was conducted by a land record official in 2019.
The final demarcation was received in July 2021.
Amitabh Bachchan must Providing 230 square meters of land and compounds.
The walls must be moved 2 to 3 meters.
Open space from the bungalow and security cabin will be affected in this acquisition, “said Prithviraj Chavan, Assistant Commissioner of Kota, K-West Ward, in his report to Lokayukta.
“We have asked the road department if they have a contractor for widening the road.
They say they don’t have it now and they will take widening the road in the next financial year.
Because there are no road contractors available, we will take further action after one appointed,” Chavan said in the report.
Miranda said, “In 2019, BMC destroyed the wall of building boundaries adjacent to the Bachchan bungalow, took over the land for widening the road.
However, Pratiksha bungalow compounds are left untouched.
Waiting for the contractor before the acquisition of land for widening the road never happened.
Lokayukta Have not received the BMC report and has requested a response from the Supplementary City Commissioner at the next session in January.
“Bachchan did not respond to a query from TOI.
In 2017, the actor’s family was asked to hand over a portion of the land from Pratiksha, off Linking Road, Juhu, along with the owner of the neighboring plot.
