Mumbai: BMC will immediately carry out road work worth Rs 430 Crore in the layout of Mhada throughout Mumbai.
The streets will be repaired by BMC after several years when BMC stops repairing the road in this bag after Mhada was told as a planning authority in 2017.
Most of the Layout Mhada was on the western and eastern suburbs.
“Because the state government has directed BMC to provide civil infrastructure and civil infrastructure in this layout, we will advance with work.
This will be the main and minor roads, in concrete and asphalt,” said P Velatu, the Supplementary City Commissioner (project).
Pending road work will be immediately cleaned.
In fact, the proposal for work worth 1,200 crore will be submitted before the committee stands immediately for approval.
“We will also do other road work worth Rs 750 Crore in the next few months,” Velatu said.
The recent state government issued direction to BMC to take responsibility and improve civil infrastructure and civil facilities, such as putting the road and waste lines in the Mhada colony in Vikhroli, Bandra, Goregaon, and Andheri.
These colonies have long been seized by BMC facilities because MHADA has established independent planning authorities by the state government.
Officials said there were more than 50 such colonies in Mumbai which was home to the population.
BMC recently under fire for RS 1,200 work projects in the city starting October 2021 continued to be delayed.
Officials say that when the volume of work is very large, they want to moderate and decide which one needs to be taken on priority.
But the opposition party corporator accused that BMC spent “luxury” on major projects while essential road work was ignored.
“The population of Mhada Colony suffered from poor streets.
BMC should not give them a bad road like other cities,” said Corporator Vinod Mishra (BJP).
