Mumbai: BMC will reduce the obligatory gap 84 days after the first dose of covishield for those who have to travel abroad as soon as they produce copies of travel documents such as visas, confirmed airplane tickets and other documents that justify the trip.
Supplementary City Commissioner Suresh Kakani said the Ministry of Health said in a letter on August 23 that has received several requests from countries and individuals to facilitate vaccination faster for people who have to travel abroad, for example, to return to their home countries or hang out medical care.
It is recommended to reduce the period between doses in these cases can be considered.
“We will begin to consider such cases in Civic vaccination centers in accordance with the Indian government,” Kakani said, adding that supporting documents must be provided.
The ministry, in his letter, showed features to provide second dose vaccination in place for such beneficiaries in government centers.
On June 7, the center has permitted to reduce the gap of the covishield to 28 days for students who go abroad, those traveling to work or will participate in the Tokyo Olympics.
