Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Thursday asked Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to submit a written statement in the problem of Drive Vaccination Door-to Door for people riding on the bed next Wednesday.
This drive was enacted after a high court order in the petition filed by a lawyer Dhruti Kapadia.
The applicant told this bench led by the Chairperson of the High Court Bombay that there were some serious problems that need to be handled earliest to functions the vaccination campaign from the door to the door and make it reach everyone who needs without hassle.
, “People who are lying in bed for 15-20 years do not have a government ID card and which is why they do not benefit from this initiative even though they are most vulnerable,” the Petitioner told the High Court.
He further said local doctors were not ready or hesitant to provide a previous medical fitness certificate to the bed, which must be in accordance with the BMC policy and it also affects the drive.
“BMC has involved NGOs for door vaccinations to their doors and there is no clarity in the roles and responsibilities of BMC and NGOs to drive the door vaccination to this door,” the Petitioner said.
The applicant in his application also said instead of the email ID, BMC had to issue the helpline number call center for the recipient of the covid vaccine bed will make the drive more effective.
The Bombay High Court will hear this problem on Thursday.
