Bengaluru: Anchipalya residents, near Nagasandra at Tumakuru Road, held a protest against Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) who said it had failed to provide two road links to the Chikkabidarakallu Metro Station (Jindal) to come from Anchapalya and other villages.
This Metro part is part of 3 km Nagasandra-Bic (Madavara), the extension of Greenline.
While around 100 people threatened to block the busy Tumakuru road on Thursday morning, around 10 young people climbed the Metro Construction bridge with banners and shouted slogans against BMRCL.
Traffic is influenced for a short period after several protesters sit on Jalan Tumakuru.
The movement was restored after police officials and BMRCL convinced the agitators they noticed.
Mukesh Gowda, a protester, said, “BMRCL has betrayed us.
They promised to provide two roads to the station.
Metro’s construction is almost over but they have not fulfilled the promise so far.
We will continue to protest and will not allow our work until we get justice.” BMRCL officials said they had obtained an area of ​​1,885 square meters to provide a road link to the Chikkabidarakalu metro station from the villages through the layout in the area but the layout developer filed a petition in the High Court on this matter.
Public Relations Officer BMRCL BL Yhwanth Chavan said, “The connecting road is detained because of the legal hurdle.
Once they are cleaned, it will be taken.” However, said Gowda, “the verdict supports the developers.
Now, we do not have a station or road.” In 2019 -2020, Anchedabala residents protested for eight months demanding the construction of a metro station in the area.
They threatened to stop the ongoing Metro work and block Jalan Tumakuaru if their demands were not fulfilled.
The population also approached HC, which stated the location of the Anchidavery station was changed to help the Population of Prestige Jindal City.
However, Chief Judge Abhay Shreeniwas Oka noted they could not decide the location because they did not have technical expertise.
The court directed BMRCL to make the right decision.
BMRCL stated it was too late to enter a new station because the Nagasandra-Bic section was in the final stage.
