MUNICH: BMW has started the creation of fifth-generation high powered batteries and battery modules to use from the iX and also i4 in the Competence Centre for E-Drive Production at Dingolfing.
At precisely the identical time, the business is also raising production capability for its fifth-generation electrical engine, that was assembled in Dingolfing for its BMW iX3 because 2020 and may even power the BMW iX along with BMW i4.
Regular production of this BMW iX will shortly get under way in Dingolfing Plant, followed with the creation of their BMW i4 in Plant Munich in the fall.
The integrated e-drives and semi automatic batteries to get all these vehicles will be made in the Competence Centre for E-Drive Production at Dingolfing.
Even the BMW Group already started producing battery parts Plants Regensburg and Leipzig in April and May 2021.
In keeping with the expanding requirement for e-drives, BMW Group Plants Landshut and Steyr will also be stepping up creation of e-drive housings.
The BMW Group is investing over 500 million euros in expanding manufacturing capability for e-drives in its Dingolfing place between 2020 and 2022.
By 2022, it is going to create e-drives for over half a thousand electrified automobiles.
The BMW Group will spend a total of approximately 790 million euros in expanding capability for electrical powertrain parts at its Dingolfing, Leipzig, Regensburg and Steyr places between 2020 and 2022.
“We anticipate at least 50 percent of these vehicles we send to our clients globally to become electrified by 2030.
To do this, we’re relying upon our extensive in-house driveway train experience: We’re increasing capacity at present drive train generation places — such as here at Dingolfing — and growing capacities at others — for example lately in Regensburg and Leipzig,” explained Dr Michael Nikolaides, Senior Vice President, Generation Engines and E-Drives, BMW Group.
