Bhubaneswar: The police have launched the probe to find out the situation that leads to the death of Arinindam Das TV journalist, as long as the elephant’s rescue efforts are stranded in the Mahanadi River by the Odisha Rapid Action Force (Odraf) disaster on Friday.
Experts questioned the step odraf allowing two scribes to climb a rubber boat on a dangerous mission to save jumbo.
“The police will know the situation that leads to the tragedy.
We will ensure the standard operating procedure (SOP) is strictly followed to avoid the repeat of such an accident in the future,” said Pradeep Kumar Special Help Commissioner.
According to the SOP, no one other than those involved in the operation should rode like that on the rescue mission.
In addition of the Director General of Police (Law and Orders) R K Sharma, who is Odraf’s Operations Chief, has begun the investigation into the tragedy.
Sharma, who visited Mishap spots and interacted with Odraf personnel, said, “Too preterm to comment on what’s wrong.” Many questions question ‘failed operations “by odraf, the backbone of disaster management in Odisha, which is internationally known for mastering the strategy to overcome disasters properly.
Sanjiv Marik, former Director General of Police (DGP) of the State, said Odraf should not allow journalists, Even if it’s too high to accompany them during a dangerous mission.
“While personnel are trained, others don’t.
It looks like deaths that can be avoided and unfortunate, “said Marik.
Another DGP, Prakash Mishra, questioned the reason why Odraf approached Jumbo.” I don’t understand why they go near wild animals, who might behave unexpectedly in such situations.
It seems they don’t assess the right percentage of threats.
It is wrong, which must be introspected, “said Mishra.
The boat with seven people on board, five rescue personnel and two journalists, was reversed near the pillar of the Mundali series where the base was also a concrete structure that caused injury to them after being swept by the current Police, said a police officer.
