PANAJI: River passenger ferries, built by Goa Shipyard Limited, (GSL) for Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (UPRNN) will soon be deployed in the Ganges river for cruise ships between Raj Ghat, Ravidas Ghat and Assi Ghat in Varanasi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the ferry through video conferencing in the presence of officials and officials of the government’s ministry of defense.
The contract for the ferry was signed in February 2019 under the Scheme ‘Prasad’ center to promote tourism and as a transit mode in Varanasi.
“This passenger ferry has been designed and built by considering the unique role that must be played in promoting tourism in the Ganges River,” a GSL official said.
It has been adjusted to carry 80 passengers.
The Public Sector Unit Defense designed ferries in line with the Classification Rules for the Indian delivery list (IRS).
While the stomach is built from steel, composite superstructure provides severe advantages and characteristics of better corrosion resistance.
The ship sailed from Goa to Varanasi, transit through coastal waters and inland waterways.
