Bhubaneswar: The Wildlife of the Society of Odisha (WSO) has accused that the Ministry of Forestry has covered the death of elephants and destroys evidence by burning and burst a secret carcass, the claim is dismissed by the Ministry of Forestry.
The accusation arose after the elephant carcass was explored by a special task force (STF) of the branch of the state crime in various Athgarh forest divisions on Tuesday.
WSO accused the incident indicating the Forestry Department tried to cover up the hunt.
It has quoted at least 10 examples of the cover and demands action against employees of the department of justice.
WSO said that from the 770 elephant deaths in the last 10 years the cause of death cannot be ascertained in 161 cases.
Of these, in 146 cases, the carcass was very decomposed.
WSO claims that since April 2012, there are at least 10 elephant deaths that have been covered up.
“Postmortem in the Narasinghpur incident, which was carried out by Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), has confirmed that it was a 12-year-old elephant who was spent.
In November 2021, elephant death was not reported in Angul’s circle even though the video disposal has become a viral .
There are eight other similar incidents, “the alleged Secretary of WSO Bisang Mohanty.
He showed that covering it as easy as the carcass, after being found, not in any condition.
“Lower employees only face actions with top officers at the division level that escaped punishment,” said Mohanty claiming death, then how can they be detected? It is impossible to hide the death of a large animal like that.
Let the probe report and laboratory come.
Investigations are being carried out by Crime Branch.
“Jai Narayan Pankaj, Deputy Inspector General (STF), said they were waiting for a lab report to come from the Wildlife Institute of India.
