Boko Haram militants kill Eight in Suburban Niger, States defence ministry

NIAMEY: Insurgents in the Islamist group Boko Haram killed four soldiers and four civilians in an assault on Niger’s southeastern town of Diffa, the defence ministry said.
At least six militants were killed in the raid on Friday, ” the ministry said in a statement Saturday.
The insurgents assaulted Diffa from the late day, riding in around 15 cars.
After intense fighting, they had been pushed back with security forces,” The Boko Haram insurgency broke out from northeastern Nigeria in 2000, however violence often spills over into neighboring Chad, Niger and Cameroon.
Back in December, an attack blamed Boko Haram murdered 28 people and burnt 800 houses in Diffa area.
