Kolkata: Some of Kasba, which is located in a busy bypass connector, turned into a battlefield on Saturday night after two groups – armed with bombs, lathis, bricks and even sharp-edged weapons – clashed with each other.
The incident was reported at around 11:30 a.m.
from near Kasba Tribana Club.
The incident left at least three people injured, two of them were serious.
Locals alleged that at least seven bombs were thrown at the Kasba connector, close to the median main road.
The two victims were injured critically – identified as Rabbi Chowdhury (26) and the Assistant Thakur (26) – has been received at a private hospital in the Ruby area.
While Chowdhury is a resident of Rajdanga, Thakur is a vantik population of Pally.
Local sources claim clashes as a result of grass war to control the area between two promoters and syndicated members due to their loyalty to the same political party.
Police despite claiming that this is the result of intra-party clashes.
“At night, the problem broke out between the two same party factions on several old competition.
Local police were sent and reinforcements in the form of HRFs and RCP response teams from Lalbazar reached the place immediately after.
This situation was controlled and injured was transferred to the hospital .
We have posted our man in the area to ensure peace is maintained, “said an officer in Lalbazar.
Anti-rowdy forces from the detective department helped the local police in the probe.
“We are afraid of hearing a bomb exploding one after another.
There is still blood and torn glass lying around,” said a local.
