Hyderabad: income from liquor has become the biggest source of its own income for Telangana since its establishment in 2014.
For the past seven years, the state has obtained Rs 1.35 lakh crore from liquor, with an income of almost three times the RS 10,833 Crore In 2014-15 to RS 27,888 Crore at 2020-21.
Increasing sustainable income from the sale of liquor can be associated with the pattern of state consumption and recent price increases.
Furthermore, the sources in the government said the income graph would continue to increase in the future and sales figures since the beginning of the Pandemic Covid-19 confirmed this.
For example, the maximum increase in the year-to-year has occurred in the 2020-21 pandemic year at Rs 5,283 Crore.
And it’s not all.
While the pandemic was far from being completed, in the first four fiscal months (2021-22), the state has produced Rs 9,509 Crore from the sale of liquor.
With new liquor policies come into effect in October, there have been discussions about the feasibility of increasing the price of liquor in a limited way, the source said.
The new application price system will be implemented for new limits and licenses.
In addition to 2,216 existing wine stores, 150 new stores will be approved.
People in saying that the number of new stores that must be approved can even rise.
There is also a plan to allow more wine shops in the main gram pan and greater mandal.
The Excise Ministry also plans to allow 159 additional bars with an extended clock to stay open longer at night.
