New Delhi: Space Technology is set to save to resolve boundary disputes between countries between northern countries.
The North Eastern Space Applications Center (NESAC), the initiative with the Department of Space and the Northeast Council (NEC), has been defeated to carry out satellite mapping from the border area to help ‘scientifically’ limit the boundaries between countries.
Interestingly, it was Minister of Internal Affairs Amit Shah who came with suggestions a few months back to the Nesac task by mapping border areas between countries and forests in the northeastern region so there was a ‘scientific’ basis for demarcation between countries.
Nesac has used space technology for flood management in the northeastern region.
Shah, who as NEC chairman also headed the Nesac community, had, at the NEC meeting on January 23 this year in Shillong, suggested that Nesac mobilized the same technology to map the border between northeastern and scientifically developing their demarcation.
A source told TOI that the same process had begun.
“Because there will be scientific reasons in the demarcation of the border, there will be no room for each bias and there will be better acceptance of the limit solution by the countries concerned,” said a government official.
Shah, incidentally, has led Nesac’s meeting during his visit to the northeast last month.
