Sarajevo: The Bosnian police on Wednesday arrested the head of the country’s intelligence on charges of money laundering and misused his office to falsify the University Diploma, the police and prosecutors.
Osman Mehmedagic, Head of the Intelligence Security Agency (OSA), was arrested at the request of the State Prosecutor and the police who were carrying out appropriate activities, police spokesman Sarajevo Mirza Hadziabdic told Reuters.
The Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement investigating Mehmedagic for office abuse or authority, to forge documents and money laundering.
It is said that more information will be available on Wednesday.
Corruption was widespread in Bosnia, it was divided ethnically after Yugoslav’s bloody farewell in the 1990s, infiltrated the entire field of life, including justice, education and health.
Last month, the police arrested the Director of the American University in Sarajevo and Tuzla and two colleagues to be idolized illegally to issue a diploma to Mehmedagic.
In October, Mehmedagic and a colleague was charged with office harassment for allegedly using the agent’s resources to spy on a man who filed a criminal complaint against him but the court released them, prosecutors appealed.
